The Management of the Polytechnic has made a decision regarding the enforcement of students' attendance policy. At its meeting held on Thursday, 9th April, 2026, Management considered a proposal to enforce a minimum of 70% lecture attendance for all students. This is in line with Section 3.4.0l of the Students Handbook.
The Committee noted the poor attendance of students at lectures, which has adversely affected academic performance across Departments. To address this, Management has directed and approved the following: a minimum of 70% attendance is mandatory for all full-time students in every course, while a minimum of 50% attendance is required for all part-time students.
Any student who fails to meet this requirement shall not be allowed to sit for the semester examination in the affected course(s). Departments are directed to enforce and keep adequate records of student attendance in line with the directive of Management.
All Heads of Department have been directed to communicate this policy to all academic staff and students in their Departments, ensure strict compliance with the attendance by students, and keep accurate attendance records for monitoring and verification. This policy takes immediate effect, and compliance is mandatory.
