The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University, Kano, has released a notice addressing the recent transformer outage, water shortage and the mitigation actions being taken on the New Campus.
In a memorandum dated 14 October 2026, reference number BUK/SA/VC/008, and signed by Deputy Dean of Student Affairs (New Campus), Dr. Sani Saidu Ibrahim, the office conveyed sincere sympathy to all students living on the New Campus who have endured hardship, discomfort and inconvenience over the past few days as a result of the water scarcity caused by the unexpected transformer failure.
The statement reaffirmed that the Deanery fully recognises the seriousness of the situation and is working hand‑in‑hand with university management to cushion the impact and restore normal services as quickly as possible.
According to the notice, a series of emergency interventions have been rolled out to relieve the pressure on the halls of residence.
These actions are intended to provide immediate relief while longer‑term solutions are being finalised.
In addition to allocating 300 litres of diesel yesterday to keep the emergency supply points operational, the Vice‑Chancellor confirmed that the faulty transformer has been successfully repaired. He expressed confidence that, Insha Allah, full electrical power and the automated water distribution system will be completely reinstated within the next few days.
The Deanery thanked the student body for their patience, resilience and cooperation during this challenging period, and urged everyone to continue observing orderly conduct at all designated collection points as the restoration process is completed.
