Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu-Igbo, has secured fresh approvals from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for several of its academic programmes, reinforcing the institution’s growing academic standing. The Board granted full accreditation to selected courses and also approved the introduction of new programmes across various disciplines.
The approvals followed a comprehensive NBTE assessment visit to the polytechnic conducted between November 3 and 6, 2025.
NBTE awarded full accreditation, valid for five years, to the following programmes after evaluating facilities, staffing, learning resources, and academic records:
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Science Laboratory Technology (Microbiology option)
National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Administration
Higher National Diploma (HND) in Urban and Regional Planning
The Board also approved the polytechnic to commence new programmes at both ND and HND levels, expanding its academic offerings in technology, management, media, and applied sciences. The newly approved programmes include:
ND Public Administration
HND Strategic Communication and Media Studies
HND Film and Multimedia Production
HND Marketing
HND Networking and Cloud Computing
HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology (Power and Machines option)
HND Science Laboratory Technology (Chemistry option)
HND Computer Engineering Technology
NBTE advised the polytechnic to invite the Board for full accreditation of the newly approved programmes at the appropriate time, warning that failure to do so within the stipulated period could result in the withdrawal of approval to admit students.
The Board explained that its accreditation process involves detailed inspections of classrooms, laboratories, libraries, equipment, staff credentials, and teaching materials. During the November 2025 visit, the assessment team reviewed physical infrastructure, staff strength, equipment quality, and academic procedures.
Reacting to the development, the Rector, Engr. Mobolaji Onasanya, expressed appreciation to NBTE for its confidence in the institution. He commended the staff for their consistent efforts in meeting and sustaining required academic standards.
According to him, the approvals underscore the polytechnic’s commitment to quality teaching and practical, industry-relevant training, noting that students will benefit from a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experience.
The newly accredited and approved programmes are expected to attract increased student enrolment in current and future admission cycles. The expansion also aligns with the polytechnic’s vision to broaden its course offerings while maintaining a strong focus on quality teaching, learning, and practical skills development.
