The Management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced the official schedule for the 2025 Christmas and New Year holiday for members of the university community.
The announcement was contained in an internal memorandum dated December 20, 2025, issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Publications. The memo outlined the approved holiday period and corrected an earlier clerical error concerning the resumption date.
According to the notice, the holiday will commence on Monday, December 22, 2025, and end on Sunday, January 4, 2026. Academic and administrative activities are scheduled to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The management explained that the clarification became necessary following a previous memo dated December 19, which mistakenly indicated the resumption year as 2025. The university described the mistake as regrettable and urged all staff to take note of the corrected 2026 resumption date.
While most staff members will observe the holiday, those assigned to essential duties are expected to continue reporting for work throughout the break to ensure the security and smooth maintenance of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor, on behalf of the university, extended warm Christmas and New Year greetings to staff and the entire UNIJOS community, wishing them a joyful festive season and a prosperous year ahead.
