The Federal University of Technology, Akure is set to celebrate its 2026 Asa Day, a significant cultural event that showcases Nigeria's rich heritage and traditional values.
According to the Registrar, Mr. Charles Adeleye, the 2026 Asa Day will take place on Monday, February 23, 2026. This annual event has grown into a national platform for highlighting the country's diverse traditions, particularly through indigenous attire and local cuisines.
Asa Day is a celebration of the unique ways of life of various communities, and while participation is not compulsory, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Adenike Oladiji, has encouraged all members of staff and students to wear traditional attire on the designated date. This is a mark of identification and support for the cultural cause.
The University community is expected to demonstrate unity in diversity as it celebrates culture, identity, and heritage during the 2026 Asa Day event. The celebration is a significant part of the university's calendar and is expected to be a memorable occasion.
