The Nigerian Universities Engineering Students Association (NUESA) House of Assembly at the University of Uyo has approved a ₦1,500 backlog fee per session for engineering students.
In a memorandum dated February 21, 2026, and addressed to engineering students, the Assembly announced that the decision was reached during its 7th Plenary Session held on February 20, 2026. The resolution followed extensive deliberations, recommendations, and scrutiny by the Backlog Committee and the House.
According to the memo, the backlog fee is aimed at strengthening the association’s dues receipt system and ensuring improved administration within NUESA. The House emphasized that the decision was unanimous and taken in the best interest of engineering students.
The bill, coded EX/001/026 and dated January 30, 2026, is titled “Enactment of a Backlog Fee for the Nigerian Universities Engineering Students’ Association (NUESA) Dues Receipt.” The Assembly reiterated its commitment to student representation and advocacy, assuring members that students’ interests remain a top priority.
The memorandum was signed by Rt. Hon. Bethel Ngore Ajom, Speaker of the NUESA House of Assembly, and Hon. Obot Ubong-Abasi Akpan, House Leader.
NUESA operates under the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Uyo, representing engineering students across departments.
