Sa'adu Zungur University has achieved a significant milestone in its academic development, with the National Universities Commission approving twelve new undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes.
The approval was contained in a letter dated 15 June 2026, following a successful resource assessment exercise conducted by the Commission. This exercise confirmed the University's readiness to commence the programmes, in terms of academic personnel, physical infrastructure, library resources, and other necessary facilities.
The newly approved programmes will commence in the 2026/2027 Academic Session. These programmes include:
Commenting on the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the approval as a major milestone that reflects the University's commitment to academic excellence, quality assurance, and the expansion of its academic offerings. Professor Tahir expressed appreciation to the National Universities Commission for its confidence in the University's capacity to mount the new programmes.
She also thanked the Executive Governor of Bauchi State and Visitor to the University, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON, for his consistent support and commitment to the growth of higher education in the State. The Vice-Chancellor further commended the Governing Council, Senate, Management, academic and non-academic staff for their dedication and collective efforts, noting that the approval was a product of teamwork and institutional commitment.
Professor Tahir assured prospective students and other stakeholders that the University would continue to provide the necessary human and material resources to ensure the successful implementation of the programmes, in line with the quality assurance standards of the National Universities Commission.
