Fifty nursing graduates from Fountain University in Osogbo are slated to be officially welcomed into the nursing profession by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).

The induction and oath‑taking ceremony, marking the university’s third such event for registered nurses, is scheduled for Wednesday, 7 October 2026. It will be held in the university’s Auditorium at Fountain University, Osogbo, with doors opening at 10:00 a.m.

Organised jointly by Fountain University and the NMCN, the gathering will signify a pivotal moment in the career paths of the fifty graduates as they recite the professional oath and embark on the next stage of their nursing vocation.

The Vice‑Chancellor of Fountain University, Professor Olayinka Ramota Karim, will preside over the ceremony alongside Nurse Ndagi Alhassan, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Attendees are expected to include representatives of the regulatory authority, university officials, academic staff, family members and other interested parties who will witness the formal commencement of the new nurses’ professional lives.

Prof. Fatai Adesina Badru, from the Department of Nursing Science at the College of Medicine, University of Lagos, Nigeria, has been invited to deliver the keynote address. Additionally, Professor B. L. Ajibade, Vice‑Chancellor of Mercy Medical University, Iwara‑Iwo, will assume the role of Nursing Elder for the occasion.

The event will be themed “The Future Nurse: Possessing Excellence, Compassion, and Courage in the Contemporary Global Healthcare System,” a focus that underscores the evolving expectations placed on nurses and the attributes required to meet modern healthcare challenges effectively.

For the cohort of fifty graduates, the ceremony represents more than the culmination of their academic studies at Fountain University. It marks the transition from campus‑based nursing education to active professional practice, as well as their formal pledge to uphold the ethical standards and responsibilities inherent in the nursing field.

Further highlighting the program, Professor Moriam Dasola Adeoye, Dean of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, will serve as Host, while Nurse Elizabeth O. Ojo, PhD, Head of the Department of Nursing Science, will act as Co‑Host.
