Professor Omotayo Joseph Oyeniyi of the Department of Marketing, Lagos State University, has been elected as the new Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences.

The election took place on Monday, 16th March 2026, at the Faculty of Management Sciences' Seminar Room, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos. Professor Oyeniyi secured 77 votes to defeat Professor M. A Abata of the Department of Accounting, who garnered 34 votes. Two votes were declared void.

Announcing the results, the Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Dr Olugbenga Oduyomi, disclosed that a total of 114 voters were accredited for the election. The outgoing Dean, Professor Akanji Bankole of the Department of Industrial Relation and Personnel Management, will complete his tenure on Sunday, 22nd March 2026.

Professor Oyeniyi is scheduled to assume office on Monday, 23rd March 2026. At the conclusion of the election, Professor Bankole congratulated the Dean-designate and wished him a successful and impactful tenure. He also expressed appreciation to members of the Faculty for their support throughout his time in office.
