The Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria has granted full academic approval to the Sarki Sidi Bage College of Health Science and Technology in Lafia, Nasarawa State, to run its Health Information Management Technician Programme.

The decision was communicated in an official letter from the Office of the Registrar/CEO, signed by Babagana Mustapha, and dated June 2, 2026. The Board's decision follows a recent professional Resource Verification and Facilities Evaluation of the institution's Health Information Management Programme by a designated team of professionals.

Having met the major requirements specified by the HRORBN evaluation and certification guidelines, the institution has been granted Full Approval for a duration of four years. The accreditation is effective retroactively from May 13, 2026, and will remain valid until May 13, 2030. According to the directive, a fresh review will be required on the expiration date.

The college administration has also been advised to remain aligned with the Board's Enabling Law and standard guidelines for future actions. Additionally, the approval is contingent upon the institution meeting any relevant requirements from other regulatory bodies overseeing Diploma Programmes in Nigeria.

While granting the approval, the Board highlighted specific areas where the college must improve before its next scheduled visitation. The administration has been instructed to address the following requirements: Staffing Enhancements, Library Resource Upgrades, and Professional Development. The college must employ a minimum of six permanent, qualified HIM professionals, upgrade its library standards, and ensure that all academic staff participate in Mandatory Continuous Professional Development Programmes.
