The ASUU Labour and Students Relations Committee of the University of Jos, representing both the university branch and the ASUU National Executive Council, has opened the call for applications for the ASUU Indigent Scholarship Award 2026. The national award will grant two recipients a sum of two hundred thousand Naira (N200,000) each.

In parallel, the UNIJOS branch of ASUU has introduced its own Indigent Student Scholarship, which will support five students by covering their tuition fees for an entire academic session.

A. Criteria for Award

• Applicants must be financially disadvantaged and provide verifiable proof of their indigent status.
• Applicants must be currently registered as students of the University of Jos.
• Applicants must demonstrate solid academic performance, maintaining a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 or higher.

B. Mode of Application

• Each candidate is required to submit an application letter that does not exceed two pages in length. The letter should clearly state the candidate’s full name, the course and year of study, the state of origin, and any other pertinent information. All applications must be delivered to the ASUU UNIJOS Branch Secretariat at the Naraguta campus no later than 4 pm on Friday, 18 September 2026.
• The application letter must be accompanied by the following documents:
• A photocopy of a valid identification card or the most recent school fee receipt.
• A recommendation letter from the applicant’s Head of Department, which must include the applicant’s CGPA for the preceding academic session.
• A photocopy of the registration form for the most recent session.
• Two current passport‑size photographs.
• Important note: Students who are in their final year of study are not eligible to apply for either the national or the branch scholarship.
