The administration of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), wishes to notify students, parents, guardians and all other interested parties about the university’s policy concerning tuition fee payments and the clearance of any overdue balances.
Over the last three academic sessions, the university’s leadership has shown considerable leniency in enforcing fee‑payment deadlines, granting families additional time to satisfy their financial responsibilities in light of the prevailing economic pressures. Despite this accommodation, by the close of the 2025/2026 session, a significant number of learners still carried unpaid balances, including cases where written promises to settle those debts have not been honoured.
While the management recognises the genuine financial hardships many families face, it also stresses that prompt settlement of approved fees is vital for maintaining high‑quality instruction, student support services, campus facilities and overall academic effectiveness. Accordingly, the institution has adopted the following actions to address outstanding dues and to regulate fee payments for the upcoming 2026/2027 academic session.
All learners who owe fees from the 2023/2024, 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 sessions must settle those amounts before they can finalise registration for the 2026/2027 session.
Every student is required to remit the entire amount of the approved chargeable fees for the 2026/2027 academic year. Parents and guardians are urged to plan their finances accordingly to ensure payments are made on time.
Students who have not paid at least half of their total chargeable fees for the 2026/2027 session may be barred from sitting the first‑semester examinations.
Learners who have not cleared 100% of their total chargeable fees for the 2026/2027 session may be prohibited from taking the second‑semester examinations.
The university’s leadership stresses that these steps are intended to foster fiscal responsibility and to safeguard the continued provision of quality academic services, rather than to penalise students or ignore authentic financial difficulties.
The institution will keep evaluating reasonable and compassionate arrangements for students who can demonstrate genuine hardship, following the established approval procedures. Consequently, parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to honour their financial pledges and prior commitments, while students should engage any sponsors early to guarantee compliance with the stipulated payment expectations.
The administration seeks the understanding and cooperation of all parties in applying this policy, recognising that collective adherence will benefit both the university and its student body.
