Redeemer's University has achieved a significant milestone with the National Universities Commission (NUC) approving its Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) programme, along with other medical, engineering, and postgraduate programmes. This development marks a major expansion of the university's academic offerings and reinforces its growing reputation in Nigeria's higher education landscape.

Over the past 12 years, Redeemer's University has made distinguished contributions to global public health, emerging as a leading continental powerhouse in the genomics of infectious diseases. The university has received multiple international endorsements from prominent health bodies, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), African Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC), and the United States Centre for Disease Control (US CDC).

The NUC approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted on the university campus. In an official communication addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, the NUC confirmed the approval of the full-time mode of several programmes, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session. These programmes include MBBS Medicine and Surgery, DBS Dental Surgery, Pharm D. Doctor of Pharmacy, BSc Pharmacology and Therapeutics, DPT Doctor of Physiotherapy, and B.Eng Mechatronic Engineering, as well as various postgraduate programmes.

Reacting to the development, Vice-Chancellor Professor Akindele expressed gratitude, stating that the achievement is a testament to God's guidance and the support of the university's proprietors, the Board of Trustees, Council members, staff, parents, and students. He emphasized that this is not the final destination for the university, which aims to become the foremost training institution in Nigeria, offering quality education with godly character.
