Why JAMB will not release the top scorers’ names in the 2024 UTME

Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of JAMB, announced that the names of top scorers from the recently concluded 2024 UTME will not be released. He emphasized that the UTME serves as a ranking examination and it's unrealistic to assume that the highest scorer will automatically secure admission. This decision was made to prevent a recurrence of the 'Mmesoma saga' from the 2023 UTME. Oloyede highlighted the complexity of admission criteria across institutions, making it challenging to determine a definitive list of top scorers. He stressed the importance of verifying candidates' claims before awarding prizes.
