The sale of UTME forms was initially expected to end on February 14th but was extended by a week to February 22nd to accommodate those who missed the deadline for various reasons.
The announcement was made by JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, during his visit to the Global Distance Learning in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), where he was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Education, David Adajo.
The extension was deemed necessary to ensure that all candidates have a fair chance to register, as some may have been unable to complete the process due to the recent disruption of bank operations.
The turnout for registration was reportedly low at the centre visited, with only three candidates registering on that day and a total of 15 since the extension was announced.
Despite this, the monitoring exercise gave the JAMB officials confidence that the extension was a good idea to ensure no candidate was left out of the process.
The JAMB Registrar also mentioned that the board had apprehended about 15 individuals who attempted to circumvent the UTME registration processes.
