ATBU Directs SIWES Officers to Issue I.T. Letters

The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University has instructed its departmental SIWES officers to start issuing Industrial Training letters to eligible students. This directive comes after numerous complaints about difficulties in accessing the e-SIWES portal due to technical issues.

Background to the Directive

An internal memo from the Directorate of the Industrial Training Coordinating Unit, dated 29th July, 2026, highlighted that the university received several complaints from SIWES students in the Faculties of Engineering and Environmental Technology. These students were unable to access the e-SIWES portal because of technical challenges linked to the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology.

Solution to the Technical Challenges

To prevent delays in the industrial training process, the ITCU has directed all departmental SIWES officers to issue I.T. letters to students who have successfully completed their SIWES II registration through the normal university registration portal.

The directive emphasizes that the issuance of I.T. letters to eligible students must be completed on or before 7th August, 2026.
