The university administration has taken note of student concerns about limited access to lecture halls, transport logistics and campus security as the Second Semester examinations for the 2025/2026 session approach, beginning on Monday, 14 September 2026.

Management is especially worried that many learners are forced to leave Phase II and trek considerable distances to locate alternative study locations.

Accordingly, the following actions have received approval:

1. Opening of Classrooms and Lecture Theatres

Classrooms and lecture theatres will be opened for student use from 06:00 hours until 00:00 midnight throughout the entire examination period.

2. Lighting and Maintenance of Facilities

Sufficient illumination will be installed in all study rooms and lecture venues. The Director of PP&MS has been instructed to carry out inspections and to guarantee that any defective bulbs, switches or other essential fittings are repaired or replaced promptly.

3. Responsibility of Faculties and Departments

Deans and Heads of Departments are asked to verify that the rooms under their jurisdiction are made available to students and that any dead bulbs, faulty switches or minor defects are addressed without delay, thereby ensuring a conducive study environment.

4. Security of Classrooms and Lecture Theatres

Campus security personnel will be deployed in greater numbers along walkways, around classrooms, lecture theatres and other designated reading zones, with particular emphasis on night‑time patrols.

5. Responsibility of Student Leaders

Student representatives are expected to collaborate closely with the relevant university authorities to confirm that the classrooms and lecture theatres are opened and properly secured. They will also help monitor appropriate use of the facilities and report any problems to the appropriate officials without delay.

6. Protection of University Property

The decision to make these spaces available is driven by the welfare of the student body. Learners are therefore urged to treat the provided facilities with care. Acts of vandalism, theft or removal of chairs, bulbs, switches, electrical fittings or any other university assets will not be tolerated.

Continued access to these reading areas hinges on responsible usage and the safeguarding of the premises by the student community. Students are asked to regard the classrooms and lecture theatres as their own and to help keep them in good condition.

7. Metal Scanners and Examination Security

The administration has acquired a sufficient number of handheld metal detectors for use during the examinations. Students are strongly advised to refrain from bringing mobile phones or other prohibited electronic devices into the exam rooms. It is recommended that phones be left in hostels or other secure locations before proceeding to the testing venues.

Possession or use of prohibited devices inside examination halls may lead to serious disciplinary action, including rustication or revocation of admission, in line with university regulations.

8. CBT Examinations and Transportation

Computer‑Based Test (CBT) examinations will be conducted at the CBT Centre opposite the Sports Complex and at the DLC CBT Centre in Phase II. The university will provide transport assistance to ease student movement to and from these CBT sites. Buses will run from the ACENPEE building (across from the College of Medical Sciences) to the CBT Centre opposite the Sports Complex, while additional pick‑up points for Phase II will be located at the ABU Press/ICSA‑Ramat Halls roundabout.

Management acknowledges that the examination period places considerable demands on learners and is committed to delivering a safe, secure and conducive environment for preparation and assessment.

Nevertheless, this effort requires shared responsibility. Students must reciprocate by protecting university property, adhering to security protocols and using the classrooms and lecture theatres responsibly.

There should be no necessity for any student to search for off‑campus study locations when adequate reading spaces have been provided on site. Learners are encouraged to make full and responsible use of the facilities that have been arranged.
