The Student Union Government (SUG) of the University of Jos has expressed deep concern and alarm over the recent kidnapping of Miss Eyimonye Esther Enuwa, an Agriculture Faculty student currently advancing to 400 level.
The SUG unequivocally condemns this brutal and intolerable act of abduction, emphasizing that the safety, security and welfare of every student are of utmost importance, and no student should have to endure fear for their freedom or personal safety.
The union is profoundly troubled by the circumstances of the kidnapping and the psychological distress it has inflicted on her family, friends, peers, classmates and the broader university community.
Consequently, the SUG urges relevant security agencies and all responsible authorities to intensify their efforts to secure the immediate, safe and unconditional release of Miss Eyimonye Esther Enuwa, calling for the deployment of all lawful measures necessary to rescue her and reunite her with her loved ones.
The union also appeals to the public and members of the university community who may possess credible information that could aid in her safe recovery, asking them to promptly relay such details to the appropriate security officials.
During this challenging period, the SUG stands in solidarity with Esther’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire Faculty of Agriculture, sharing their sorrow and anxiety, and reaffirming its commitment to championing the safety and welfare of University of Jos students.
The union calls for calm, vigilance and a shared sense of responsibility as efforts to locate and free her continue.
Esther must be brought home safely.
The University of Jos Student Union Government will keep monitoring the situation and will continue to engage the relevant authorities as needed.
