In an emotional moment, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, broke down in tears on Wednesday as he publicly apologized for the errors that affected the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“I apologize for the trauma caused to the candidates,” Oloyede said, his voice wavering as he addressed reporters during a press conference in Abuja.
Earlier in the briefing, the registrar had admitted to “one or two errors” in this year’s UTME, acknowledging the distress these mistakes have caused to hundreds of thousands of candidates and their families.
With over 1.5 million students reportedly scoring below 200 in the exam, this year’s UTME has sparked intense debate over the quality and fairness of the testing process.
Details to follow as the situation unfolds.
