Nile University of Nigeria has been recognized as the third-best performing university out of 283 universities in Nigeria. This recognition came during the 5th National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Awards (NATAP-M), where the university was awarded a substantial prize of 25 million Naira.
The university secured the top spot in the National Spread category, which covers all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for both the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 academic sessions. Nile University earned six points in key performance areas used to assess universities, including the number of admissions, diversity in applicants, and gender balance.
The assessment for the awards was based on several criteria, such as the university with the highest number of candidates, the one with the most national spread in admissions, the highest number of foreign students, the university with the best improvement in gender balance, and compliance with JAMB’s Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) guidelines.
Commenting on the award, Nile University’s Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dilli Dogo FNAMed, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, "We are truly honored and thrilled to be acknowledged at the 5th National Tertiary Admissions Performance Merit Award. Securing third place overall and a 25 million Naira cash prize from JAMB is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our entire community our faculty, staff, and, most importantly, our students. This accomplishment demonstrates that when we commit to inclusivity and quality education, remarkable outcomes are achieved. It inspires us to continue raising the bar, ensuring every student has access to world-class education, regardless of background."
The NATAP-M awards, introduced by JAMB, aim to promote healthy competition among tertiary institutions by encouraging a wider spread of admissions across Nigeria and advancing the global recognition of Nigerian universities. These awards were presented during the fifth edition of the NATAP-M ceremony, which took place as part of the 2025 JAMB Policy Meeting in Abuja.
Nile University's success in the NATAP-M awards reflects its ongoing commitment to providing accessible, inclusive, and diverse education while maintaining exceptional standards in its admissions process.
