University management at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has become aware of ongoing fraudulent social‑media profiles—particularly on LinkedIn and Facebook—that falsely use the name of Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Bashir Garba.

The individuals behind these bogus pages have been reaching out to unwary members of the public, offering alleged contracts, jobs and other prospects with the aim of swindling them.

The university’s administration wishes to make it clear that neither the management nor Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Garba is linked in any way to those counterfeit accounts or their creators. The public is urged to avoid any interaction with them, as any engagement is undertaken at the individual's own risk.

To eliminate any confusion, the Vice‑Chancellor maintains only authenticated social‑media profiles. All recruitment and procurement activities at the university are carried out openly and fairly for eligible candidates and organizations, following the Public Procurement Act of 2007 (as amended).

The public is further assured that neither the Vice‑Chancellor nor university officials will ever demand money from any person, group or contractor as a prerequisite for appointment, admission or contract award, nor will any staff member be authorized to collect such payments on the institution’s behalf.

The university, together with appropriate security and anti‑corruption agencies, is diligently pursuing the perpetrators so they can be brought to justice.

Consequently, members of the public should direct all inquiries and communications to the university’s official, verified channels. The university and the Vice‑Chancellor will not be responsible for any dealings that are not supported by a properly signed agreement between the institution and the relevant individual, group, or organization.
