The Students’ Representative Council has issued a security advisory in response to consultations with the University Security Unit. This advisory outlines key updates aimed at enhancing student safety and well-being.
The updates include the reopening of the small university gate, which will be operational from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM daily, starting Monday. Additionally, students, particularly female students, are advised against walking alone and are encouraged to move in groups for improved personal security.
The council has also instructed students to use only official entrances, including the Main Gate, Small Gate, or the New Site Gate, to prevent potential security breaches. The SRC emphasized that these measures are intended to safeguard student lives and well-being, and appealed for full cooperation and adherence to the new guidelines.
The advisory, signed by Comr. Iliyasu Umar Adamu, President of the SRC, reiterated the council's commitment to student safety, stating: "YOUR SAFETY IS ALWAYS OUR PRIORITY. SRC CARES."
