Oct, 28Views: 3

The Governing Council of Glorious Vision University (GVU) convened an emergency session on Thursday, 22 October 2026, and gave its approval for the advancement of seven staff members to new academic and administrative grades. This decision underscores the university’s ongoing dedication to nurturing its personnel, upholding professional standards, and fostering institutional progress.

The promotions were made after careful consideration of the recommendations put forward by two bodies: the Appointment and Promotion Committee for Academic Staff and the Appointment and Promotion Committee for Senior Non‑Teaching Staff. Both committees highlighted the nominees’ achievements in teaching, research, publication, university administration, and overall development of the institution.

The roster of promotions includes three academics who have moved from Associate Professor to full Professor, one staff member who has been elevated to Associate Professor, one lecturer who has progressed to Senior Lecturer, and two senior non‑teaching employees who have been appointed to higher administrative roles.

This development reflects GVU’s steadfast policy of rewarding merit, acknowledging dedication, and creating clear pathways for career growth among its workforce.

THREE ACADEMICS ATTAIN PROFESSORIAL RANK

Three distinguished scholars have been promoted from Associate Professor to Professor in recognition of their extensive research records, scholarly output, and professional contributions.

Professor Kingsley Erhons Enerijiofi

Professor Kingsley Erhons Enerijiofi is a specialist in Environmental and Public Health Microbiology as well as Biotechnology. He serves as the founding Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences at Glorious Vision University and holds the position of National President of the Nigerian Bioinformatics and Genomics Network.

He earned his B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Benin. His research portfolio spans environmental sustainability, circular economy models, antimicrobial discovery, biotechnological applications, bioinformatics, and genomics.

His elevation to full Professor acknowledges his impact on scientific inquiry, academic leadership, and the expansion of knowledge within his fields of expertise.

Professor Kehinde Oluwole Ola

Professor Kehinde Oluwole Ola is a Nigerian economist and faculty member at Glorious Vision University in Ogwa, Edo State. His scholarly interests cover economic growth, poverty alleviation, agricultural value chains, and fiscal policy matters.

His published works have tackled pivotal economic topics such as government spending, oil price fluctuations, exchange rate dynamics, and the role of women in agriculture.

The promotion to Professor highlights his substantive contributions to economic research, academic scholarship, and the generation of insights relevant to both national and global economic challenges.

Professor Marvelous Igbelokoto Oaikhena

Professor Marvelous Igbelokoto Oaikhena teaches Political Science and Public Administration at Glorious Vision University.

His academic output includes teaching, supervising postgraduate students, conducting research, and publishing on subjects like public policy, governance, development, peacebuilding, and administrative theory.

Being raised to the rank of Professor marks a major milestone in his career and recognises his influence on scholarship and the advancement of knowledge in political science and public administration.

Dr. Daniel Chibueze Onyejiuwa Promoted to Associate Professor

The council also sanctioned the promotion of Dr. Daniel Chibueze Onyejiuwa to Associate Professor, acknowledging his contributions across teaching, research, and university administration.

Associate Professor Onyejiuwa is a seasoned academic and development economist with a strong background in university instruction, empirical research, postgraduate mentorship, and administrative duties.

He obtained his Ph.D. and M.Sc. in Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile‑Ife, and earned a First‑Class Honours degree in Economics from Abia State University, Uturu.

His advancement reflects a commitment to academic excellence, rigorous research, and the mentorship of emerging scholars.

Dr. Matthew Atilade Aderoju Elevated to Senior Lecturer

The Governing Council further approved the promotion of Dr. Matthew Atilade Aderoju from Lecturer I to Senior Lecturer, following the recommendation of the Appointment and Promotion Committee for Academic Staff.

Dr. Aderoju is a historian who currently acts as Head of the Department of History and International Relations at Glorious Vision University, Ogwa, Edo State.

He earned his doctorate in History from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile‑Ife, Osun State, where his dissertation examined the participation of women in the political economy of Ibadan between 1862 and 1960.

In addition to his departmental duties, he serves as Sub‑Dean of the School of Postgraduate Studies at GVU and was honoured as a Fellow of the Ife Institute of Advanced Studies (IIAS) in 2023.

The advancement acknowledges his work in historical research, classroom instruction, scholarly investigation, and university administration.

Ajayi Victor Oluwaseun Promoted to Deputy Registrar

The Governing Council, acting within the senior non‑teaching cadre, gave its approval for Mr. Ajayi Victor Oluwaseun to move from the position of Principal Assistant Registrar to that of Deputy Registrar.

Currently, Mr. Ajayi holds the post of Secretary for the School of Postgraduate Studies at Glorious Vision University, where he plays a key role in managing and coordinating postgraduate academic programmes.

His elevation reflects the depth of his professional experience and his notable contributions to university administration, academic affairs, and overall institutional service.

Obuko Moses Elevated to Principal Assistant Registrar

The Council also sanctioned the promotion of Mr. Obuko Moses, advancing him from Senior Assistant Registrar to Principal Assistant Registrar.

Mr. Obuko serves as the Head of the Academic Affairs Division at Glorious Vision University, a position that places him at the heart of the university’s academic administrative operations.

This promotion highlights his effective work in academic administration and his success in coordinating the university’s core academic processes.

The promotions of Messrs. Ajayi and Obuko underscore the university’s appreciation for the vital contributions made by non‑teaching personnel in supporting academic functions, improving administrative efficiency, and furthering institutional goals.

These recent promotions also illustrate the commitment of the Vice‑Chancellor, Professor Ezekiel Shegun Asemah, to fostering staff development, encouraging professional advancement, and recognising excellence across both academic and administrative staff.

Under Professor Asemah’s leadership, the promotion exercise signals a strong emphasis on rewarding diligence, dedication, professional competence, and measurable impact on the university’s growth.

By advancing both academic and non‑teaching members of the workforce, the Vice‑Chancellor reinforces the principle that institutional excellence relies not only on high‑quality teaching and research but also on effective administration, motivated personnel, and opportunities for career progression.

The elevation of three academics to professorial rank, together with the promotion of additional academic and administrative staff, marks a significant milestone in strengthening the university’s human‑resource capacity.

Such recognition serves as an incentive for heightened productivity, stimulates research and innovation, boosts staff morale, and motivates other members of the university community to strive for excellence in their respective roles.

The development further reflects the university’s broader dedication to building a workforce capable of supporting its academic mission, ensuring administrative efficiency, and achieving long‑term institutional aspirations.
