Northwest University, Kano State, has taken disciplinary action against students found guilty of examination malpractice, resulting in the expulsion of 34 students.
The decision was made during the university's 66th statutory Senate meeting, which took place on June 17 and 18, 2026. This move follows recommendations from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct, stemming from incidents during the Second Semester 2024/2025 examinations.
According to a statement from the university's Public Relations Unit, issued on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu, the expulsions align with the institution's examination regulations as outlined in the Students' Handbook.
One student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, had her case reviewed and was subsequently cleared of any wrongdoing.
The university has reiterated its commitment to upholding academic integrity, emphasizing the importance of students adhering strictly to examination rules and regulations.
